прочитав этот тред я так и не понял, при чем здесь ютф-ная локаль) С ней какие-то проблемы? Как только появилась возможность ставить ru_RU.UTF-8, юзаю ее везде, и пока брат жив (хотя зависимость от UTF есть :-)
